About Seneca HR - Maine Human Resources

Straightforward HR Support from Someone Who’s Done the Job

When you call, you work directly with me. There’s no call center, no junior consultant, and no one learning your business at your expense. If you need support on a Friday evening or during a tough situation, I’m the one you hear from.

I’ve spent four decades working in operations, human resources, and executive leadership. I started consulting because I saw too many business owners struggling with people issues alone, often getting bad advice or no advice at all. Seneca HR exists to give Maine businesses experienced, practical HR support without the overhead or detachment of a large firm.

Experience That Shows Up When It Matters

Before consulting, I made the same decisions you’re making now. I’ve handled difficult terminations, managed through crises, made payroll when the margin was thin, and carried responsibility for hundreds of employees at a time. I understand what it means when decisions affect real people, not just policies or numbers.

That experience matters. It means you’re not getting textbook HR or theoretical answers. You’re getting guidance grounded in real-world judgment and accountability.

Maine-Based. Maine-Focused.

I’ve worked in Maine since 1992, and I only support Maine-based, independently owned businesses. That focus is intentional.

Maine employment law is nuanced and often inconsistently enforced. Knowing the statute isn’t enough. You need someone who understands how the Department of Labor actually applies the rules, what enforcement priorities look like in practice, and how Maine businesses operate in tight labor markets and small communities.

If you need HR support in Maine, this is my lane. I don’t pretend otherwise.

Practical HR That Respects Reality

Most small businesses don’t have unlimited time, money, or staff to fix everything at once. I don’t approach HR as an academic exercise or a checklist to sell you more services.

My role is to help you understand what’s urgent, what’s real risk, and what can wait. Not every issue is a crisis. Not every policy needs to be perfect. We prioritize based on your business, your bandwidth, and your goals.

I’m not here to shame you for what hasn’t been done. I’m here to help you reduce risk, make better decisions, and move forward with confidence.

How I Work

I don’t push rigid packages or long-term contracts. I work the way my clients need me to work:

  • Ongoing fractional HR support

  • Project-based work such as handbooks, audits, or recruiting support

  • On-call guidance for urgent or sensitive situations

  • Remote support statewide, with on-site availability in Southern Maine

Most of my client relationships are long-term because trust and continuity matter in HR.

The Bottom Line

You didn’t start your business to become an HR expert. You started it to build something that works.

My job is to handle the HR complexity so you can focus on running your business, supporting your team, and making decisions you can stand behind.

When you work with Seneca HR, you work with me. Every time.

If that’s the kind of support you’re looking for, let’s talk and see if we’re a good fit.
